Diane Shewchuk teaches Collections, Acquisitions, Care and Management at the Cooperstown Graduate Program. A native of New York’s Capital Region, she has more than 30 years of experience working at museums and historic houses in New York State. Since 2015 Shewchuk has served as Curator for the Albany Institute of History & Art. She is best known for her work with textiles, curating numerous exhibitions utilizing the costume collection at the Albany Institute.

Shewchuk began her career as a Curator at Clermont State Historic Site where she developed a furnishing plan for the Livingston House. She later spent time at the Albany Institute as a Registrar, the John Jay Homestead State Historic Site as the Historic Site Manager, and the Columbia County Historical Society as the Curator and Executive Director. As the daughter of immigrants, she is particularly interested in developing collections that tell stories of underrepresented populations. Shewchuk serves on the board of the Museum Association of New York and is an expert in making pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs).
