Peter Rutkoff teaches the course Museums, Cinema, and American Culture at the Cooperstown Graduate Program. Though a New York native, he taught at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio for nearly fifty years, where he founded and chaired the major program in American studies. His specialization is in African American history and culture.
Rutkoff is the co-founder of the Crossroads seminar, which works closely in collaboration with secondary teachers throughout Ohio. He is the author of ten books, including four novels and a volume of short stories. This includes his book with Professor William B. Scott, Fly Away: The Great African American Cultural Migrations and his novel Irish Eyes.
